The Alligator Is My Friend...

This post is a very special one to me and takes me back to some wonderful memories. I worked at a camp here locally called Camp Widijiwagan where I taught tennis and was a camp counselor for one summer during college. I loved it! It was actually the first time Josh, my husband, and I worked together. Every morning, we would sign songs and get ready for the day. One of the songs was called "The Alligator Is My Friend." As the summer went on, the camp leader would dedicate the song to me because my camp nickname was Alie. Get it...Alliegator...I loved it.

The song goes...
The alligator is my friend...
And she can be your friend too...
I would rather have her has my friend...
Then wear her on my shoe...
(then you would make your hands like an alligator mouth and go...)

Alll--iiii-ggg-aaaa-ttttt--ooo0-rrr

The camp leader was named Merle. I loved him. He made "work" fun for everyone! So this shirt is named after my friend Merle.

This sweet shirt is for Alex, owner of Alex the Monkey. His mom, Angie, contacted me and said that he would love an alligator shirt...Could I do one? Of course! He is going to look so adorable in this. I started with yummy blue shirt and added some adorable Amy Butler dot fabric for the alligator and coordinating orange dots for the bird on the back.

Angie, I hope you and Alex love his new shirt! Thanks for your order! I hope to make more for Mr. Alex soon!

Introducing Harrison the Hippo...

I LOVE this design. It might be one of my personal favorites.

This set is for a great girl, Sarah A.
She is expecting her third little sweetie this summer...her first boy. She is so excited about having a boy. She works a ton with my sister, Brea, at her consignment sale. At Brea's latest sale, Sarah mentioned that she was naming her little boy Harrison...obviously, I love that name. She said...How cute would it be for you to make me a Harrison the Hippo...I LOVED it!

I love the way that this whole set turned out. She wanted the Harrison the Hippo shirt and a burp cloth set. One burp cloth with a hippo and a small "h" and the other with his initials..."hda."

I used a ton of Amy Butler dot fabric and some yummy felt. I think it all turned out really sweet...

Sarah, thanks for your business...I hope you LOVE your items.
I can't wait till Mr. Harrison is here to see him in his hippo shirt!

Luke the Owl for Mr. Parker...

This super duper cute shirt is going to Mr. PaRkEr...You may remember Parker from Parker the VW with Surfboard on top. Parker's mom, Erica, contacted me and requested an owl shirt for Parker. She said that he is in love with owls here lately and she knew he would love an owl original shirt.

You might remember Luke the Owl from this post. I originally made an owl for one of my awesome nephews, Luke. He loved it and so did I.

I think this shirt is so stinkin' cute and it is going to look so adorable on Parker.

Thanks again for your order, Erica. I can't wait to see pictures of Parker sporting his new shirt!

Harper the Owl is HUGE...

It has been a busy week in my sewing world...Can you tell?

This shirt is going to a daughter of one of my teachers. Her daughter is in a sorority...their symbol is an owl. She got to see the original Harper the Owl Onesie and loved it. She said she had to have one for her daughter, Leigh.

I love the way this shirt came out. It is the first time I have ever made something for an adult...I am pleased with it's personality. It is full of awesome Amy Butler fabric and tons of felt.

I hope that Pam and Leigh both love it! I also hope that Leigh will be proud to wear it!

Introducing Maria the Yummy Ice Cream Cone...

This adorable shirt is going to a little sweetie named Maria. She is the granddaughter to one of my most favorite people ever!! Mrs. Burt was my Principal at one of my school the first 4 years of teaching career. She retired 2 years ago and I have missed her so much since then. I could go on for hours on how Mrs. Burt loved me, encouraged me, and led me to be the teacher I am today. I just love her.

She contacted me to request a sweet shirt for her little sweetie, Maria. She said that her granddaughter loves ice cream cones and PINK...no need to say anything else! I am all over that!

I love the way that this ice cream cone came out. I used some yummy pink and green fabrics and lots of layers. It looks so springy and happy...I love it! It reminds me of this awesome ice cream place in Indiana that Josh's family always takes me to in the summer...

Mrs. Burt, I hope you love the shirt. I hope that little Maria loves it as well. I just love you and adore you for the awesome woman you are. Thank you for supporting me and my craft!

Miniature Alex the Monkey...

I love this onesie. This onesie is going to a great teacher friend, Susan.

It is for her nephew that will be here this summer. She wanted a sweet little version of Alex the Monkey for her little sweetie. I know she loved it, because she showed everyone at my school! It was so great to see her reaction and to know that she is so thrilled to give it on to her nephew. I think it turned out so sweet!

Thanks Susan! Thanks for your excitement about my craft!

Cupcake...Without a Name!!!???!!!

This adorable shirt is for a new friend of mine, Amy, out in Murfreesboro. Her sweet daughter Savannah is the owner of Georgia the Giraffe. Amy contacted me because she needed a gift for a friend...She told me to be creative and just surprise her.

I love the way this sweet cupcake came out. It is made with some adorable springy fabrics in pinks, greens, and more pinks. The sweetest detail on this shirt has to be all the buttons. They make the shirt so lovable.

Amy, I hope you love this shirt! I can't wait to hear what MaKenzie thinks about it!

~Here is the fun part...This cupcake needs a name! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think his/her new name should be. Needs to be a good one...once it is named, that name sticks with every cupcake shirt made. There are no "rules"...so be creative!

Thanks for your help on this one!!!

Introducing Mr. Willie the Whale...

This shirt is for one of my co-workers at one of my schools...
All these pregnant women...
Oh Me Oh My!

Introducing Alex the Monkey...

...This shirt has to be my new FAVORITE!

This sweet shirt is heading out to Angie and her son Alex. She contacted me after seeing Parker's shirt and wanted me to custom something special for her son. Alex and Parker are the best of buds. How cute are they going to be with their sweet Maggie Moo Original shirts on!?!

This shirt has a TON of detail, which I love to do and feel as though with more practice, I am getting better at. I backed this shirt with some adorable blue dots fabric, then some yummy chocolate felt, orange and white dot Amy Butler fabric (my favorite fabric designer ever!!!), cute facial features and some navy groovy buttons and Alex the Monkey came to life.

I loved making this shirt and hope that Alex loves wearing it! Thanks for your order Angie. I can't wait to hear what you and Mr. Alex thinks of his new shirt!

Maggie Taggie Blanket for Mr. Finnegan...

This sweet Maggie Taggie Blanket is for a very special little man.

Erin is a sister to one of my most favorite people in the world. I work with her sister, Beth, at one of my schools. Erin and I have never met, but Beth always tells me that I remind her of her sister...which she loves because she doesn't get to see her that often. Erin's little sweetie is Mr. Finnegan. He is adorable and through all the pictures that I have seen, has to have the best personality.

Erin contacted me to order a Maggie Taggie Blanket for him. She wanted an adorable "Parker the VW with surfboard" on top to accent one of the sides. I LOVE all the ribbons that I picked for this taggie. I think that blue and chocolate brown are too cute together. I carefully placed all the ribbons and triple stitched them down for added security. I used one of the ribbons for my logo tag and added some awesome buttons for the wheels on the VW and the rest was history.

These taggies are a ton of work...but, I love them. They are super-duper soft and Maggie loves her taggie blanket that I made her.

Thank you so much Erin for your order and business. I can't wait to see little Finnegan with his taggie blanket. I hope you love it!

My Third Mention...

It is such an awesome feeling to know that someone loves your work.

Today in class, I taught a little boy how to shoot a basketball the "proper" way...he was so excited he told me he couldn't want to go home and tell his mom.
That was the best moment of the day, until I read this awesome mention about me from Erica.

Her sweet son was the little boy that inspired Parker the VW. His name is Parker and he just looks like a box of fun! He loves his shirt and his mom was so sweet to write such nice things about me and my work on her blog.

On her blog, she said that Parker loves the buttons that are the wheels the best...This picture is of little Parker "hugging" his shirt!

Isn't that just adorable!

Would love it if you could check it out! You can link to it HERE!

Thanks a million Erica for your sweet mention and post about me. I loved this project and can't wait to start working on Ms. Jazmyne's shirt!

She wraps around the side of the onesie for that extra sweet touch. She has a double layered eye with a blue and white button.

I love her and think she is going to be a huge hit..or at least, I hope!!

An Apple A Day Keeps The Worms Away with Mr. Willy...

...Introducing Mr. Willy the Apple-Eating Worm...

I absolutely love this onesie. It is appliqued with some adorable springy fabrics and a little nerdy button for his eyes. I know that the button is pink, but I think that he is a he.

Mr. Willy is his name and chewing through apples is his game.

....Would love to know what you think...

Introducing Parker the VW Bug...

I LOVE this design. This one may just be my favorite one so far.

...This shirt is a custom order for a new friend in Murfreesboro, Erica and her son Parker...

Erica contacted me wondering if I could do something for her little boy. She loved my designs, but said that he needed something more boyish...I was thrilled. I have been dying to try out a new idea I had swimming around about a VW bug (older style) with a surfboard on top...I love it.

I used this awesome green and blue dot fabric with some red for the surfboard. The two buttons for wheels are just the right touch.

I have had several people tell me that they love my items, but everything is girlie! I did do two boy shirts and you can find them here. I love doing boys stuff as well, just seems like all of my orders lately were for girlie girlies.

I hope that Erica loves it and that little Parker thinks it is cool! I think Parker is a great addition to the Maggie Moo Family. Thanks Erica for your business...This was such a fun project!

Introducing Betsy the Birdie...

I LOVE birds.
I have such a neat connection to birds. I don't know why, but I do. I do remember has a child, my grandfather Charles, who I also love, teaching me about birds. He had this neat book describing all the types and where they were most popular. I loved that book. Maggie's nursery is decorated in birds and I often call her my little birdie. I am just drawn to them.

I love this onesie. It is for Ms. Kaylor...soon-to-be daughter to Courtney. She is such a special friend and I hope she loves it. She has had a hard and difficult pregnancy...I know that she will be so thrilled to meet Ms. Kaylor. She is already so loved!

Amy L. requested a cute giraffe for her little sweetie. I think it turned out too cute, the pictures just don't do her justice. She is in shades of sweet brown and pink...LOVE that combination. I used some of my favorite chenille fabric paired with the pink and brown diamonds for the backing. Georgia is made with brown and pink polka dot fabric with stitching circles for the extra detail. Two pink little buttons for eyes and Georgia immediately came to life!

I love her and I hope that Amy and her little cutie will too!

Thanks so much for your order Amy! I can't wait for you to receive her!

One of my great co-workers is having a baby soon...naming her Kaylor. We are all very excited and it has been a great experience for Courtney and I to become so close, seeing as though we will both have sweet girls to share.

Birdie Shirt for Kaitlin...

Today is Kaitlin's birthday party. She is 2! I can't believe it.

She is so beautiful and such a fun little girl.

This will be Maggie's first friend birthday party and we are so excited to attend.
Kaitlin is the daugther to a great friend of mine, Kerri Jo and her hubby Scott.

I hope she will love her custom birdie shirt!

This one is for Isaac...He really liked the fish with the teeth.

This one is for Luke.

This one is for Anna-Banana. She wanted a Valentine's Day themed shirt.

Do you like them? Which one is your favorite? Would love your feedback...

New Blog, New Ideas, New Journey...

Thank you for visiting my sewing blog.
My name is Alison Harris and I am a full-time PE teacher locally at two different elementary schools. I also am a mom to a beautiful and oh so fun little girl named Maggie Holland. My husband and best friend ever is Josh. And lastly is the doggie Dexter Bing.

I like to sew on the side. It is a great way to relax and find some time for just myself and my craft. I started this blog to keep up with the projects I have completed and their purpose. I like my designs, I understand not everyone does. That is okay with me.
Thank you for your support. Please let me know if I can custom make something for you. I would love to...
